Our Story
What began as a simple desire to create clean-burning candles for our dog turned into a mission to share the light and love of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Our dog, Journey, developed a corneal ulcer that required a long healing process. After she recovered, we noticed that whenever we burned store-bought candles, her eye became irritated again — but the symptoms disappeared once the candles were put out. That experience opened our eyes to the hidden toxins in many candles and inspired us to make our own clean, safe alternatives. It was the start of a journey that intertwined our love for candles, our pets, and ultimately, our faith.
At first, I began crafting candles for our home and selling them to family and friends under the name Bees & Boxers. But as I prayed and asked God what He wanted for this business, He gently spoke to my heart: “You never asked My permission.” In that moment, I surrendered my plans for His. Out of that surrender, He gave me a new name — SaltLight Candles — and the verse Matthew 5:13–16:

Salt and Light
13 "You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless."
14 “You are the light of the world — like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is put on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father."
Then one day he spoke to me again and said, "let's build this church!" I obeyed and began building his candle company for his purpose.
